"As long as you discriminate on the basis of race, you will have discrimination." to paraphrase Justice Roberts --hence, contract preferences for Federal and State contracts based on race and gender, admissions to universities based on race rather than academic merit, and inherently racist Black Congressional Caucus, Hispanic Caucus, Asian Pacific Caucus,Black Educational TV, the "institutional racism" list is endless. What is the definition of "minority" when you can be a "minority" when numbers indicate in pure terms your ethnicity is a "majority"? (eg California) The United States no longer aspires to a "color-blind" society based on individual ability and achievement. U Cal Berkeley would be almost entirely Asian should admission be based on academic achievement for admission. Asians are suing the U Cal system to find out how spots are meted out in the U Cal system. Rightly so! The Department of Injustice now enforces laws based on race openly and notoriously. Even Sandra Day O'Connor, former Supreme Court Justice can suspend "equal protection" under the law against the express language of the US Constitution for a period of time to allow "affirmative action" to work. Affirmative Action has morphed into something far different than permitting access where merit and achievement levels are equal. Isn't admission on the basis of race rather than achievement and academic merit demeaning? Where she acquired such authority to suggest suspension of the US Constitution for a certain portion of the population remains a mystery. She did note that continuation of such a scheme would result in tyranny eventually. The result of the travesty is a sham, extremely divisive, creates unmeasured hostility, distrust, and cynicism. In the future you will reap what you sow. The US is such a diverse Nation but now as, Arthur Schlesinger,a President Kennedy biographer, suggested in his essay, "The Disuniting of America" has become a Nation of ethnic groups functioning as lobbyists based on race. America is no longer a "melting pot" where people pulled together as Americans united in a singular purpose. The multicultural" tribal mess is replacing the American unifying identity and supplanting it with groups pulling in different directions. Soon it will fly apart like a cheap watch.
